Justin got to play with the HP TouchPad at the launch of the device in Singapore. This is the first time any WebOS device is going to be officially launched in Singapore. Being WebOS it supports Abobe Flash out of the box. The hardware is a 9.3″ LED backlit capacitive screen at 1024×768 screen resolution. It sports a 1.3MP front facing camera, while weighing in at ~740 grams. Internally it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon DualCore 1.2GHz processor.
The webOS 3.0 sports the ‘Card UI’ which allows real multi-tasking and also allows the user to switch between various apps using a slick interface. The Synergy feature allows the collation of data (like calendar events, contacts, email) from various services like Gmail, Yahoo!, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Microsoft Outlook into a single interface. The ‘Just Type’ feature enables device wide search by just typing on the main screen.
The accessories for the TouchPad include a Touchstone Charging Doc which allows the TouchPad to be docked and charged at the same time without any cables.
The TouchPad will be available from authorized retailers, and directly from HP from 12 August 2011 in Singapore. It will be priced at 16GB: S$699.00 and 32GB: S$799.00.
