Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo First Look Posted on: March 30, 2011 at 11:11 am Posted in: First Looks,VideoCasts

We take a first look at Sony Ericsson’s Xperia Neo, an Android Gingerbread device that’s very similar to the Xperia Arc. The differences, thankfully, are not performance related, but with respects to physical size (the Neo is larger) and display (the Neo is slightly smaller at 3.7″ and doesn’t have the gapless display). That means you get similar performance at a lower cost.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Play First Look Posted on: March 28, 2011 at 9:36 am Posted in: First Looks,VideoCasts

It turns out that the “Playstation Phone” everyone was looking for wasn’t going to be a single phone strictly speaking, but a platform known as “Playstation Certified” that will be supported by several phones.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play that we are taking a first look at today is going to be the first “Playstation Certified” phone with a full game-pad and dual analog touchpads that provide enhanced gaming functionality to supported Android games, as well as the ability to play Playstation One games that have been specially ported over to this new platform! Not to mention that at the core, this device is still an Android 2.3 smartphone running on the new Xperia UI that we first saw on the Xperia Arc.

No news about release date or price just yet, except to expect it in the next two quarters or so.

Simply Geek #18.1 – Instant Messengers (Part 1) Posted on: at 7:00 am Posted in: Podcasts,Simply Geek

This week the usual suspects talk about Instant Messengers. They look at the good old days of the IRC, peek into the current underlying technologies and talk where how they expect IMs to go in the future. MSN, Skype, Yahoo, GChat, ICQ and even BBS, we’ve got all of them covered.

As it has happened often, our discussions went really long. So in this part you will hear half the discussion. The other half will be in Ep18.2 of Simply Geek, which will be out in a week or so.
