We are at BarCamp Singapore, recording live infront of a live audience. That sounds exciting. If only the tech news this week can be this exciting. This week, we discuss about Google’s new direction in China, HTC Evo which will not be making its way to Singapore and also the consolidated UK Government website for its citizen. And we discovered that Singapore has a site call eCitizen. Wow.

As promised a few months ago, we finally got a chance to spend more time with and tell you more about the Google Nexus One, Google’s own Android 2.1 device.

In this episode of Simply Geek, we get Justin of Tech65 and Hackerspace fame and Nicholas Aaron Khoo of Geekonomics fame on Simply Geek to talk about the latest (ok not THAT latest) announcement of the Windows Phone 7 Series. And, well, that all. We go into details about the technologies that make up Windows Phone 7 Series (don’t you just looooove saying that?) and try to see what’s in store for us in the future!

We are getting more information on the upcoming Windows Phone 7 Series, especially about things that it cannot do for us. Apple surprised everyone by banning protective screen film from Apple Store. Opera submitted their Opera Mini app to the Apple iPhone Appstore which we guess will be featured soon on our new segment call “What did Apple ban this week?” LTA launched a cool looking mobile web portal call MyTransport. SingTel, together with Ericsson, will be bringing us LTE in the 2nd half of the year. Starhub said “Me too”.
Before we begin the show, let’s all repeat after me: Windows Phone 7 Series….. Windows Phone 7 Series….. Windows Phone 7 Series…..

It’s a slow tech news week. Sony announce unveils PS3 Move, a motion controller with lightbulb on the top. Final Fantasy XIII English version is out but we still feel Japanese voice is cuter. Ubisoft’s DRM server went down, preventing all paying customers from playing their game. Pirated copies are not affected. X-Mini 2 now comes in Happy version and YOG is going into the virtual world.
PS: Sorry for the huge delay in publishing Episode 160. Been a busy week for everyone.

It turns out that Handii had made a mistake and gave us a pre-production unit of the Handii Go10 Tablet PC featured in last week’s Gear65. The retail unit that was on sale at the IT Show last weekend was a lot more polished and clean. Handii sent us a retail unit so that we can correct the mistake, so here it is!
The retail unit only fixes the paint job on the device though. The limitations to the user experience is still there, though we’ve been told that they have some newer models with a built-in keyboard that could potentially make up for some of these limitations. We’ll certainly keep a look out on what Handii has in store for the admittedly crowded Tablet PC market.Posted by Daniel | No comments
More and more companies are jumping onto the Tablet bandwagon. Today, we have one such company: Handii. So does the Handii Go 10 attempts to differ itself from the other tablets in the market today? You’ll have to watch this week’s Gear65 and judge for yourself!
UPDATE: Handii contacted us to let us know that our unit was not a production unit, contrary to what we were initially told. They’ve passed us a new unit with a much more polished design. Video after the break.
By the way, if you so happen to want to buy this tablet, Handii will be having a discount during the IT show that’s happening now (11th March 2010 to 14th March 2010) at Suntec Convention Center.

P.S.: Gear65 will be back in full gear (no pun intended) soon! In the mean time, do check back Tech65.org for updates!9 Comments
The war between iPhone and Android has began with Apple firing 20 shots at HTC. Google promise to reinforce HTC in the battle. Apple, in the meantime, is also fighting a civil war in their own appstore by removing all the WIFI detectors. Microsoft is denying their allies from upgrading to Windows Phone 7 Series. And Nokia is preparing to launch their super weapon, the Nokia N900.
The World War for smartphone has just began.

The Tech65 crew gathers at 8 Shenton way Starbucks again for the weekly podcast even though its a slow Tech new week. Apart from the new Facebook patent, Apple removing overly sexual apps from iPhone and new iPhone firmware, there isn’t much news. OK, there are also events like Showcase Nokia, Aperture 3 and Sony BRAVIA. That’s about it.
Luckily we got 2 guest with us. Else there is nothing much to talk about.
