Some of you actually asked me how our “Making of Gear65” video was recorded, so in a totally meta moment, I’m going to show you my set up, as well as the software that was involved in recording that “Making of” video. Enjoy, and hope you learnt something new!

Posted by Daniel | 2 CommentsUnboxing time! This time it’s the new HP Mini 110, the new netbook that was launched in Bejing during the HP Touch The Future Now event. I was blessed to have won a unit of the HP Mini 110 thanks to the HP Power To Change contest and all the people who put me as their referrer when you guys downloaded the application.
Posted by Daniel | 3 CommentsEver wonder what we use to edit our weekly gadget show, and how we do it? Well, know you can find out! In ten minutes, I attempt (several times) to produce Episode #28 of Gear65, featuring the Canon 500D, to give you an idea of some of the tools and tricks that we use to edit Gear65.
I used to mock iMovie 08 when it first came out, but after I gave it a try, I realised how much it could help speed up our production process, and after iMovie 09 came out, to even do fancy stuff like Picture-in-Picture while we’re at it! Hope you learn something about iMovie 09, and realise that it’s actually a really powerful video editor if you know how to use it well.
Posted by Daniel | 3 CommentsThis week we take a look at Canon’s new EOS 500D DSLR, the prefect DSLR for beginners that can also film HD video! We’re also going to show you how the video looks like from the Canon 500D, in this week’s Gear65!

P.S.: Find out how this episode was produced with a behind the scenes look at Gear65, and learn iMove 09 while you’re at it!
Posted by Daniel | No commentsThis week’s podcast is edited by Hisham and he’s truly sorry for the 2 day delays for this to come out. We talked about Windows Mobile in this week’s iteration of the month of SmartPhones; but don’t skip to that topic just yet; there are lots of goodies and nuggets in the Refresh segment.

Posted by Mohd Hisham | 1 CommentShit happens.. and it happened to us this week. The hamster which power our rendering farm went on strike over the weekend. Thus, had to render the episode manually this week… Hence, the precious discussions on the Month of SmartPhones, your nearly illegal byte of the week, a quick round of refresh with local and social networking news and ofcourse everything from that Apple keynote was delayed for a few days.. Really sorry for that..

Here is the unboxing video of the new Samsung Jet, Samsung’s latest smartphone that was announced last night at the Samsung Unpacked event. The lucky dog me won it at the lucky draw last night during the launch event.
Relax ah, I’ll do a first look and proper Gear65 review later.
PS: Daniel is out of town currently. I bet he will shout “YOU AGAIN?” when he comes back.
Posted by Justin Lee | 2 CommentsThe first non-Nokia device running on Series 60 S60 version 5 is what we’re taking a look today: The Samsung i8910 HD, more commonly known by its old name: the Omnia HD. For once, the HD actually stands for 720p HD, as in the ability to record 720p HD video, and not “higher definition than you”.
By the way, if you haven’t noticed, this is the second Gear65 episode this week! That’s right, two for the price of one!!
